In autumn 1994, for the celebration of the 400 years of the Casale’s Synagogue, a group of art lovers and experts, among them Elio Carmi, Aldo Mondino and Paolo Levi, talking about Jewish art, thought interesting to promote and to stimulate an artistic development in Jewish field. The group promoted the idea of beginning a collection of contemporary art Channukah, to be produced by Jewish and non Jewish artists. Roger Selden has adhered to this project in 2013 amongst many other artists. The number of works is today in constant increase and the reputation of this collection quickly exceeded the small Casale Community. The Museum of Lights is located underground, in the former oven for the Matzot, the unleavened bread eaten by Jews on Passover.
